Alliene May Baker

MISHAWAKA – Alliene May Baker, 96, residing in Mishawaka, Indiana passed away at 4:40 PM Monday, July 6, 2015 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka.

Alliene was born on April 17, 1919 in Mishawaka to the late Brady V. Gildner and Laura (Philips) Gildner and has lived in this area since 2007, coming from Mesa, Arizona.  She was a 1937 graduate of Mishawaka High School.  Alliene worked at Uniroyal and Douglas Aircraft in Arizona and at Honeywell in California.  She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 360 in Mishawaka, and the American Legion Auxiliary Post 303 in South Bend.

On January 30, 1937 in Elkhart, IN she was united in marriage to John L. Davis, who preceded her in death in 1973.   On November 30, 1963 in Elkhart, IN, she was united in marriage to John F. Baker, who preceded her in death on July 23, 1988.  She was also preceded in death by her son, Jack Lee Davis.

Alliene is survived by her sons, Leonard L. “Snooks” Davis of Mishawaka and John R. (Cindy) Davis of South Bend; four grandchildren, Mike (Joyce) Davis, Becky Davis, Ricky Davis, David (April) Davis; seven great-grandchildren, Monica Davis, Jessica (Mark) Davis, Brandon Davis, Emily Davis, Taylor Davis, Jacob Davis and Randy Davis; sister, Sharon (Glen) Wiseman of South Bend; brothers, Richard (Lois) Gildner  and Paul (Georgia) Gildner, both of Mishawaka.

Memorial services for Alliene will be 6:00 PM Thursday, July 9, 2015 at Palmer Funeral Home – River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, IN 46614, where friends may visit with the family for two hours preceding services.  Memorial contributions may be offered to the Humane Society of St. Joseph County, 2506 Grape Road, Mishawaka, IN 46545.  Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.palmerfuneralhomes.com.
