Flora B. Alexander

Flora Alexander, 95, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 4:45 a.m. Sunday, November 22, 2015 at Golden Living Center, Mishawaka, IN.  She was born on June 4, 1920 in Little Rock, AR to the late Ed and Mella Belle (Townsend) Doris.  On November 22, 1938 in South Bend, IN, she married David Alexander who preceded her in death on December 26, 2000.

 Mrs. Alexander is survived by her sister, Louise Mainer of South Bend, IN.  She was loved and cherished by her family and became a second mother to her niece, Brenda Carr, great-nephews, Brian and Ben Swanson and grandniece, Nicole Brownlee, as well as several nieces and nephews from her beloved brother.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband and brother, John D. Townsend.

 Mrs. Alexander lived most of her life in South Bend.  She was an active member of St. Augustine Catholic Church until she became ill.  She enjoyed traveling with her Uncle Dave, cooking and helping people.

Special thanks to the staff at Grace Hospice Center for the caring that they have provided the last two years.  They will remain in our hearts forever.

 A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m.  Saturday, November 28, 2015 at St. Augustine Church, 1501 W. Washington Street, South Bend, IN.  Graveside services and burial will follow at Highland Cemetery, South Bend.  Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services.  Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, South Bend, IN is assisting the family with arrangements.
