Freda Bernice (Korkhouse) Collier

Freda Bernice Collier, residing in South Bend, passed away Friday, January 29, 2016 at the age of 93.  She was born April 24, 1922 in South Bend, a daughter of Harold & Harriet (Pink) Korkhouse, and was a graduate of James Whitcomb Riley High School.

On October 17, 1941, Freda was united in marriage to Charles V. Dawson who preceded her in death.  Then on May 30, 1975, she married Raymond L. Collier who also preceded her in death as well as her daughter, Linda Zukowski. 

Mrs. Collier is survived by her son-in-law, Marion Zukowski of South Bend; step daughter, Suzanne (Gary) Tovey; and three grandchildren, Eric (Deanna) Zukowski, John Zukowski, and Christina (Bruce) Cowgill.  Also surviving are two step-grandchildren, Stephen Tovey and Kelly Tovey; four great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

Mrs. Collier was an 80 year member of Grace United Methodist Church in South Bend.  She worked for several years as a Cashier at Thrifty Mart Supermarket.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016 at Grace United Methodist Church, 3012 S. Twyckenham Drive, South Bend, where the family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until service time. Rev. David Schrader will officiate.  Graveside services and burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.  The Palmer Funeral Home-River Park Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
