Irene M. Acrey

SOUTH BEND – Irene M. Acrey, 95 years old, residing in South Bend, Indiana passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka, Indiana.  She was born on September 27, 1920 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to the late Charles and Alverta (Keller) Grundy and moved to South Bend in 1940. 

Irene is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Doug) Anderson of Punta Gorda, Florida; her son, Vince (Joyce) Bogunia of Mishawaka; six grandchildren, Keith Bogunia, Angie Kunkle, Jason Bogunia, Dave Kaliniak, Tom (Cheryl) Kaliniak, and Dan Kaliniak; nine great grandchildren, Annie Bogunia, Keith Bogunia, Jr., Kaerin Bogunia, Justin Kunkle, Jordan Kunkle, Alex Bogunia, Kaylee Bogunia, Kayleigh Kaliniak, and Jennifer Yeo; and six great-great grandchildren, Brantley Brocious, Aleigha Kunkle, Maverick Koch, Audrie Kaliniak, Caven Kaliniak and Emma Yeo.

Irene worked for many years at Uniroyal Corporation and was a member of the Uniroyal Retirees Club. 

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, August 22, 2016 at Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend.  Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 AM Monday until time of services at the funeral home.
