Louis Don (Sr.) Pruett

SOUTH BEND – Louis Don Pruett, Sr., 62 years old, passed away Friday, May 27, 2016 at Hospice House, South Bend, Indiana.  He retired after 35 years of service with Yellow Freight in Illinois and 10 years with Lowe’s, Mishawaka. 

Louis was born on July 26, 1953 in Chicago. Illinois to the late Don A. and Ann (Aguinaga) Pruett.  On July 11, 1981, Louis was united in marriage to Darlene (Rogers) Pruett, who survives.

Along with his loving wife, Darlene, Louis is also survived by his daughter, Ashley (Kenny Finch) Pruett of South Bend; his son, Christopher (Austin Eakins) Pruett of South Bend; one granddaughter, AvaLillian Shirrell; and three sisters, Mabel (Mila) Pruett and Carol Rogers both of Oaklawn, IL and Susan Pruett of Illinois. Louis has a special place in his heart for his mother-in-law, Corine Knitter.  His son, Louis Pruett, Jr. and one brother, Raymond Pruett both preceded him in death.  Louis was a loving brother-in-law to many, as well as Robert Rogers who preceded him in death.

Louis enjoyed drag racing, fishing, hunting and working on cars.  “You could never leave him home alone because he would build something!” He loved dancing with his wife and kids.  He loved his dog “Geronimo”.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at St. Therese Little Flower Catholic Church, 54191 N. Ironwood, South Bend.  Burial will follow in Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend.  Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 – 8:00 PM Tuesday at Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend and on Wednesday at the church one hour prior to services.  A Prayer Service will be held at 7:30 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
