Dear Sue, Tom, Chris, John and Family,
Our most heartfelt condolences to you and your family. Your mom was a very special person and one that was loved by many. She took good care of me on multiple occasions while I was attending graduate school at Notre Dame and I especially loved the home cooked meals and wonderful conversations. I also can't thank her enough for being present at the burials of both my mom and dad. They were very close friends over the many years and I am sure they are renewing their friendship in Heaven. I am sure the good Lord has plans for her to continue all of her good work in her new home by his side. You are all in our prayers.

Reggie was a dear friend to my grandmother, Patricia Crowley. Our family was deeply saddened to hear the news of her passing and send our thoughts and prayers to all of her loved ones.

As a young person visiting my grandmother and eventually living in Chicago, I had numerous opportunities to be in her graceful presence. I was always struck by the pure light and love of her spirit. I am so grateful to have known her and for the friendship that she shared with our family.
With love and gratitude,
The Kono/Crowleys

In May 2014 I ran into Reggie Weissert when I went to dinner with my parents. My encounter with her prompted these reflections, which I now share upon her death. ~Charlie

Reggie’s Hands

Reggie’s hands, warm and strong
lead me to the water, quickening.
Reggie’s eyes, warm and clear
see what mine do not.
Reggie’s voice, warm and soft,
welcomes me home
to good people,
good people, we say,
Don and Fran and Doug
good people, the edges of life melting away,
living memories remaining.

Her frailness strengthens me,
her hands sustaining.
“If you pray,” she laughs gently, “pray for Joe.”
Good people welcome me home.
My father’s hands, longer, bonier,
embrace mine.
Mom’s hands, busy, sharing, serving,
good people.

Beloved -
Your mom was "Everymom"! She always made me feel loved; she always made me feel worthwhile; she always made me feel self respect. I will remember her every time I think "love" and it's public face, "justice."

Reg was the best. She showed us how to live and how to die. She and Ralph were the first people we met after we moved to South Bend and we treasure our 40 year friendship. We will miss her very much. She and Ralph will be re-united. God bless them and may they pray for us.

Your mother's radiant smile and spirit in her picture are just as I remember her. I have happy memories of our childhood days in the woods.

My love, thoughts, and prayers are with all of you.

All the best, Susie

Dear Susan and Family,

Our deepest condolences on the death of "Reg." Please know that you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. May the Easter message of resurrection comfort you all.

Your mother was an amazing woman and one of the pillars of social justice in South Bend and beyond. As a couple, we got to know her better when we had returned to South Bend and were inspired by her unwavering commitment to making the community and the world a better place for all. She graciously opened her home to us and to many others, including those passing through. Wasn't her house even known as "Maryknoll Midwest"?

Regina's death is a great loss to you, to South Bend and to all whose lives she touched. However, her spirit will live on in you, her children, her grandchildren, and generations to come.

Regina Weissert — ¡Presente!

The light of Christ truly shined through Aunt Reggie! Although the world will be a little darker without her; the lives she touched will continue to shine on!

I remember Reg most clearly when I worked at the Holy Cross Justice and Peace Center on Chapin St. back in the early 1970's. A great lady and a wonderful spirit. She is probably now raising the consciousness of the folks in heaven!

Reggie was one of the kindest and most loving persons that I know. I worked with her through her banking relationship for past 10 years, but she made a lifetime impression on me. My sincerest sympathy to her family and loved ones. She will be greatly missed!
