Roberta "Bobbie" L. (DeGraff) Overmyer

November 22, 1942 ~ June 23, 2015 (age 72) 72 Years Old

South bend -   Bobbie (Roberta) Overmeyer, 72, passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2015. All things are made new and pain shall be no more, nor suffering, nor grief, nor crying, the Angels have come and taken her to our Heavenly Father.
   Bobbie was born in South Bend, on November 22, 1942, to the late Robert and Florence (Horner) DeGraff.
  On August 1, 1959, Bobbie married Karl Williamson, of this union there were four children.
   Bobbie and Karl were also foster parents, while during their marriage they had fostered over 100 children, on two occasions during this time they were the recipients of Foster Parents of the Year Award. Karl preceded her in death on January 1, 1986. A daughter, Sally (Craig) Overmyer also preceded her in death on August 26, 2012.
   On July 16, 1988, Bobbie married Howard Overmyer. Survivors of Bobbie include her husband, Howard Overmyer, her children, Susan Missman, Eddie Williamson, Paul K. (Laura) Williamson, two stepchildren, Eric Overmyer and Carrie Overmyer, a son-in-law, Craig Overmyer; 12 Grandchildren, Rebecca (Ryan) Zim, Jennifer (Jason) Woods, Paul Jr. (Melissa) Williamson, Angela Williamson, Theresa Williamson, Sara (Byron) Neiley, Chris (Corey) Overmeyer, Harold Maynard, Mandy Maynard, Ella Maynard, Sabrina Vargo, and Sophia Vargo, 24 Great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Connie Davis and Debbie Schafer.
   Bobbie enjoyed the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame and watching sprint car racing. With a tattoo of Elvis on her shoulder, she would have undoubtedly told you she was his No. 1 Fan.
   Bobbie was a long time resident of the River Park area of South Bend where you’d often see her riding through the community on her Hoveround, known to many as the Scooter Lady of River Park.
   Despite her long time illness and disability she never failed to show her overflowing love for others, whether it was just talking with you or you needed a place to lay your head for a couple nights, she would provide.
   “The true greatness of the soul is in loving without expecting anything in return.”
  True kindness, a tender heart and soul she was, this Bobbie Overmyer, who has left a lasting impression on the hearts of many, and by many, she will be greatly missed.
   Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Palmer Funeral Home – River Park Chapel, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend. Pastor Tom Thews will officiate. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to services on Saturday at the funeral home.
