Gerald R. Hogan

Gerald R. "Jerry" Hogan, age 70, of Granger, IN passed away 1:15 a.m. Monday, August 13, 2012, at his home, after a short battle with cancer.  Gerald was born on July 18, 1942 to the late Thomas L. and Maybelle M. (Wade) Hogan, and has been a lifelong resident.

On October 3, 1964, in Mishawaka, IN, Gerald married Ann M. (Kemble) Hogan , who survives.  Gerald is also survived by his daughter Denise M. (Robert) Bower of Granger, IN, son, Daniel R. (Michelle) Hogan of Granger, grandchildren, Zachary, Benjamin, Nicholas, Rebecka, Aidan, Justine, Brothers, Thomas L. Hogan of St. Antonio, TX, Robert Hogan of Jacksonville, FL, and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his brother, James Hogan and sister Ruth Tuttle.

A funeral mass will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 16, 2012, at St. Pius X  Parish, 52553 Fir Road, Granger, IN 46530.  Burial will occur at a later date, at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, IN.  Friends may visit with the family from 4-7p.m., Wednesday, August 15, 2012 in the Palmer Funeral Home – Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, IN  46635 and one hour prior to services Thursday in St. Pius X Parish.  

Gerald retired February 2007 after 37 years at Swank Uniform in South Bend where he was owner/operator since 1980.  He also owned and operated AJ’s Auto Sales in Mishawaka, IN.  He was a life-long member of St. Pius X  Parish in Granger.  Gerald served his country in the US Air Force from 1963-1965.  He enjoyed classic MOPAR muscle cars of which he has an extensive collection.  He is also an avid NASCAR fan and a sponsor early in the career of Ryan Newman car # 39.
