Robert L. "Denny" Denniston, 68, residing in South Bend, passed away at 10:15 pm Monday, October 7, 2013 in Fountainview Golden Living Center, Mishawaka. He was born in South Bend on June 18, 1945 to the late Alfred J. and Pearl C. (Nelson) Denniston and has remained a lifelong area resident. On December 9, 1967 in South Bend, he married the former Judith C. Johnson, who survives.
In addition to his loving wife, Judith, Robert is survived by a daughter, Jennifer Denniston of South Bend; and son, David Denniston, also of South Bend; two grandchildren, Cole and Elijah; one brother, James (Deanna) Denniston of Dallastown, PA; one brother-in-law, Donald Johnson of South Bend; one sister-in-law, Janice Johnson of Noblesville, IN; a close cousin, Barbara Hardin of Park Ridge, IL; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Robert served his country honorably in the United States Navy. He worked as a technician for CTS Inc. for 38 years before retiring in May, 2006. Robert was a longtime member of Immanuel United Methodist Church and enjoyed operating amateur radios.
Funeral services for Robert will be 11:00 am Friday, October 11, 2013 in the Immanuel United Methodist Church, 1211 W. Ewing Avenue, South Bend, IN 46613, with Pastor Paul Anderson officiating. Military graveside services and burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 - 7:00 pm Thursday in the Palmer Funeral Home - Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend, IN 46614 as well as one hour prior to services in church on Friday.
