I knew Gene as a congenial and generous colleague at Saint Mary's. Rosalie and I have continued to visit at the Farmer's Market. Please accept my sympathy and prayers, for all of the family. Gene is surely with God. Peace ever.

Gene was a gift to his students and colleagues. His loving smile and willingness to help enriched so many lives at Saint Mary's over the years. He shared his wisdom willingly and was generous with the time. I pray the promise of the Resurrection sustains his family and friends at this difficult time, The City of God certainly has a welcome new citizen.

Dr. Campanale was my absolute favorite professor at Saint Mary's. He was like a dad to all of us. He was a very intelligent, yet everyday, kind of guy who told us stories about his life and especially about how he taught himself how to play the piano. He will be greatly missed.

Gene, you are going to be a great Angel!!! Gene is one of the first faculty I remember meeting when I came to teach at Saint Mary's College. I loved his interest in people, all people, any and all details. And I most admired his great sense of humor. Rest easy my friend. Love and hugs to all the family.

Gene was a welcoming and supportive colleague. He was so kind. Saint Mary's was blessed to have him on the faculty, and I am sure his students would also sing his praises. May your memories of this humble and loving man bring you comfort. May knowing that he was loved by many ease your pain. May your faith remind you that you will be united with him.

With sincere and heartfelt sympathy,

Joanne Snow

Dr. Campanale was a huge influence on my life while a student at St. Mary's College. I am still an educator today, having taught every grade K-8. I have never forgotten the advice he gave us, nor the excellent reference he wrote for me upon graduation. Dr. Campanale often saw beneath the surface of his students. He often could see what others could not. His example, vision, and ideals are part of my philosophy of education and who I have become. My sympathy to Beth and his family.

Gene was a very supportive and helpful faculty member to me when I began my work at ECDC on the SMC campus in the fall of 1974. He was kind and encouraging to me as a young educator. I will always remember his formative support across the many years. I hope that loving memories will sustain your family during this time of sadness, and assist in transforming the grief into celebration and joy.
