SOUTH BEND – Janet Melinda Williams, 61, passed away at 3:10 AM Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at Memorial Hospital, South Bend, Indiana.  She was born on October 1, 1954 in Colorado Springs, Colorado to the late Robert and Mildred (Eikenberry) Barcus.  She has lived in South Bend since 1975, coming from Colorado.  Janet taught at Eggleston Elementary and Jackson and Brown Intermediate Schools in the South Bend Community School Corporation and also at Logan Center.

Janet was a loving mother and avid animal lover.  She was a strong and independent woman, who survived a lot of adversity and remained positive and resilient.

Janet is survived by two sons, Christopher “George” (Shannon) Williams of Chicago, Illinois and Mitchell Murray of Salt Lake City, Utah.
