Max Wayne "Stretch" Parsons

July 13, 1930 ~ February 6, 2017 (age 86) 86 Years Old

Max Wayne “Stretch” Parsons, 86 years old of North Liberty, IN, passed away on February 6, 2017. Stretch was born on July 13th, 1930 to the late Dell and Gladys Parsons. He married Joyce Eulayne Myers on January 14th, 1956 and spent 61 happy years with his “Joycie” in marriage and service to the Lord.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Maxine Millhouse. Along with his loving wife, he is survived by his sons, J. Wayne and David, their wives, Lori and Vickie, his grandchildren, Mallory Getty, Mitchel Parsons, Lauren Borton, Bruce Parsons, and Abigail Doyle, their spouses, and his great-grandchildren, Jude, Olivia, and Gideon.

Graduating from Huntington Township High School in 1948 before serving his country as a United States Marine, he then became a member of the U.A. Plumbers and Pipefitters local 172 for over 60 years. He served as apprentice coordinator before retiring in 1992.

He volunteered for the Special Olympics held in South Bend as a VIP driver. Stretch was also privileged to travel with Towers for Jesus, Inc., refurbishing and erecting radio towers to broadcast Christian radio around the world.

Stretch loved a good cup of coffee in North Liberty before heading out to the golf course most days. He was an avid player but he also regularly mowed, performed maintenance, and worked as a general handyman at Whispering Pines golf course and at his church, Beaver Creek Wesleyan.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Palmer Community Complex, formerly the Newton Center,  601 North Michigan Street, Lakeville, IN. Graveside services and burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth. Friends may visit with the family from 4 - 8 p.m. on Friday, February 10, 2017 at Palmer Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
