Mike had an amazing sense of humor at a young age which in some ways had set him apart. Many of the choices he made while in school were designed to bridge the gap to those around him. During those years his wit was augmented with a true spirit of giving of himself and generosity. You could always count on Mike to be there when you needed him. We used to get into quite a bit of mischief as teenagers and Mike would always help get us out of trouble. Granted, it was after he egged us on, but that was his special gift - he had a generous heart and never hesitated to defend his friends.

I had the privilege of knowing Mike for 43 years. I guess people would say we were an "unlikely pair", but when I was a bit lost I would call him. Mike always reminded me what was important, love, laughter, community and family. He was one of the few who I ever met that, at the end of the day, it was never about him; it was always about you. A truly remarkable character trait. So many people, when it got down to it, it was about them, not about others. With Mike, it was never, ever about him.

I will miss his unique laugh which Greg, Scott, Tracy and I used to mimic. I will miss debating the merits of natural grass or turf in ND Stadium. I will miss his habit of dropping by my parent's house just to say hello when I blew into town for a day, how did he know I'd be there? Most of all, we all will miss how he touched so many hearts and did so many things that only he could have done.

I am sure he pulled up to St. Peter at the pearly gates in his beloved '70 and challenged him to race to the chair of the father. My heart goes out to his family. May he rest gently and peacefully.

Cousin Mike,
Even though we were separated by age and distance, the times we spent together was awesome. Your humor, quick wit and love of ND football enlightened our discussions and gave us some common ground to talk about. You always had a smile on your face, even though the times may have been tough. I hope you have already found the comfort of Grandpa & Grandma, which I'm sure enjoy having you around again. Give them a big hug from all of us.
Until we meet again, Rest in Peace Cousin Mike. Prayers of comfort and extended condolences to Uncle Norm, Barbie, Kevin (& family) and also Lynda.

Big Mike..

We don't even know where to begin. Our hearts are deeply broken. We are more shocked and confused than we have ever been in our entire lives. We cannot even put into words how we feel. You and Lynda have been the biggest blessing to us. Your silly jokes, your words of wisdom, your valuable advice, your kindness, your loving hospitality, and all of the above will never be forgotten. You and Lynda made an incredible team. Your guidance lead us to be the couple we are today. We looked up to you when you were here and we will continue to do so in the present and future. We love you both dearly. You will be missed immensely. You will forever be in our hearts.

We love you Mike,

Maurice & Cortney

I was shocked and saddened when I arrived at work Monday morning and heard the news of Mike's passing. He truly was a man with a heart of gold. I'll remember his desire to purchase "things" from the children who stopped into our store from time to time. Whether it was a box of chocolates or flashlights, Mike would always make sure that kid left here with a successful sale. I'll remember him for his jovial laugh and his sense of humor that he enjoyed sharing with all of us. In closing, I'll remember him for his passion for Notre Dame football as well as the Chicago Bears (a team we cheered in common). With me being a gal that loves football, we chatted quite often about our team (I think he was surprised a few times by my knowledge of not only the team but the game as well.)
I'm sure the angels are enjoying his wit and charm and he's already found his true home in Heaven... May God bless his family and Lynda with a time filled with remembrance and joy in having had him in their lives.
Rest in peace, Mike.
