Zelda Margaret (Whitney) Daly

FORT ASHBY, WEST VIRGINIA – Zelda Margaret Daly, 84, formerly of South Bend, Indiana passed away at 9:40 PM Sunday, April 26, 2015 at Dawnview Center, Fort Ashby, West Virginia. 

Zelda was born on August 16, 1930 in Petersburg, Indiana to the late Otho Link Whitney and Lucy Edith (Beard) Whitney.

In 1947 in South Bend, Indiana, Zelda was united in marriage to John Wesley Boner, who has preceded her in death.  In 1972 in Mishawaka, Indiana, she was united in marriage to Jacky Franklin Daly, who preceded her in death.  Also preceding her in death was her step-father, James A. Spainhower; daughter, Linda Kay Ray; sister, Janice Spillard; brothers, Charles Spainhower and James Spainhower.

Zelda worked at Bendix Corporation (1952-1982) for 30 years before retiring in 1982.  She attended the Timberland Bible Church, South Bend.

Zelda is survived by her daughter, Sue (Gary) Smith of South Bend; daughter-in-law, Shiela Boner of Wiley Ford, WVA; five grandchildren, James J. (Donna Louise) Smith, Jeffry D. (Evelyn) Smith, Jeremy C. (Cheryl) Smith, Christina (David) Finnerty and Ricky Boner; ten great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.  One son, Rick Dean Boner preceded her in death. 

Funeral services for Zelda will be at 12:00 Noon on Monday, May 4, 2015 at Palmer Funeral Home – River Park Chapel, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, IN 46615.  Friends may visit with the family two hour prior to services.  Graveside services will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Timberland Bible Church, 16623 IN-23, South Bend, IN 46635.  Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.palmerfuneralhomes.com.
